Because they are cafeteria catholics like I was before I read the Bible. How many times have you heard a catholic say that they don't listen to the Popes edicts? They aren't even aware of what the cathechism says about not following his edicts. They only think of themselves and anything that conflicts with their beliefs or wants they just shrug them off. I have very close relatives that are supposedly devout catholics (even watching masses on tv) that are okay with abortions because in their mind it's better than the child suffering in an adoption agency. That's what they tell me.

No one bothered to ask the fetuses what they thought of being in adoption agencies.
