Just depends what someone wants out of life. I wouldn’t live in union county if the tax rate was 0. It’s a boring, soulless place. It’s the only county that touches mecklenburg that I have never even considered purchasing a house in. I grew up there, but beyond visiting my parents there is nothing to draw me back. It’s fine for people that just want land and a nice home, I’m not knocking that, it’s just not something that appeals to everyone and I’m sure someone that is already looking in Myers Park is not going to be someone that wants that lifestyle.

Everywhere in union county doesn’t have low taxes anyway. Waxhaw’s tax rate is 38.5 cents per $100. Charlotte’s is 46 cents. When you add The county taxes, meck comes out a little higher but not outrageously so. For a major city, Charlotte has a very low tax rate at 1.28%.
