Same here. I do not regret going to Rice.

But if I had it to do today, with the same criteria I had then (and I don't think those criteria have changed much since then), Rice would not be on the list.

Well, in 1963, MY criteria were party, party, and more party. The more parties the better. Rice was primarily my parent's choice in 1963. I just went along with it.
Given the parameters then (no tuition, relatively close) I can see why they favored it over Stanford, TCU, and Michigan. Given what I know about myself then and now, and knowing the path my life actually took, I cannot fault the choice.

Now if I were a 2020 grad with the same academic achievements and the same desire to party, and the choice were up to me, I probably would choose Texas State.

I really wonder how many of us, with the same academic credentials we had when we matriculated, back before they invented dirt, could even get into Rice these days?
