Semi-related...but my new Weatherby Mark V is probably the best purchase I've made in years, such a nice hunting rig. Got a lot of work out this year.

Those Mark V’s are nice. Wish I had one.

A few years back on a whim I picked up a stainless Marlin XL7 in .308 new from an online dealer. Was super cheap. With the FFL transfer fee I think I spent $245 all in. Planned to use it for some longer range steel plate plinking. Did not come equipped with an iron sight so I stuck it in the safe until I finally picked up an affordable 12x Vortex scope this fall. It is perhaps the most accurate rifle I’ve ever fired. Video game level accuracy. I heard they made a mistake in engineering these...were just trying to get into the cheap synthetic stock market and people quit buying their higher end stuff due to the performance of this platform.

Paired with the Hornady American Whiterail Innerlock rounds it’s put a hurting on the herd on N MI and KY this year.
