I love our team, but this is my worry. The playoff is now pretty much Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama and whoever else happens to get in. If we happen to be the 4th team, we're not measuring ourselves against Power 5 conferences, we're measuring ourselves against the schools that are dominating those conferences. Hell, Ohio State is 23-1 against Penn State, Michigan and Wisconsin in the last 24 games against those teams. If we get blown out by the Buckeyes, the story is that a G5 team can't compete against P5 conferences, and that narrative will disregard the fact that Ohio State similarly dominates every team in their conference.

This will be the narrative. I still hear about how UC got blown out by Florida in the Sugar Bowl and they didn't belong. I always ask if Ohio State belonged the a few years before because Florida blew them out by the same margin.

It will be nice to crack the cartel, but I think it will be used to by the talking heads to show why the G5 shouldn't be there. The talking heads like 15-20 power schools and one flavor of the year. This year is UC, other years it was Boise, UCF etc.
