The only significant difference in cost is the aircraft charter (regardless where you travel there are still hotel costs, meals, and busses) and round trip to the west coast is more than a $40k difference. The charter alone would be in the neighborhood of $125k-$150k.

Do we use hotels for games @ UVA? I'd also think Stanford could require 2 nights at a hotel instead of just 1, but that depends on the travel plan.

Unless something has changed in the last several years, hotels are used for all trips except Richmond and Hampton, so yes to UVA. We even used to stay in a hotel in Norfolk when playing in the Oyster Bowl at Foreman Field.

Also good point - west coast trip may have dictated two nights to simply adjust to time zone. With the charter though, team could have conceivably flown back as a red eye.

Hotels were also used on home games.

Good point - and for Richmond and Hampton games, Williamsburg hotels were used.
