Understandable that Michigan would have voted to not have the season in 2020. They didn't want Ohio State to "hang 100" on them after Harbaugh shot his mouth off last month. BTW - this is sarcasm. No way would Ohio State put more than 77 on Michigan.

Michigan did beat OSU 86-0 back in 1902. OSU's
largest margin of victory was 38-0 in 1935.

Michigan was a powerhouse ("Champions of the West") up to around 1950 when it collected a significant number of it's wins. The rest of the country started to catch up with the popularity of the sport following the War. Of their claimed 11 national titles, 10 were prior to 1950 (1901 - 1904, 1918, 1923, 1932, 1933, 1947, 1948) and only 1 since (in 1997 when it was somewhat of a "tied" national title).

They are 57-51-6 against Ohio State, but were 31-12-4 up to 1950, and are 26-39-2 since 1950. OSU didn't get their first win against Michigan until 1919 and was 0-13-2 up to then - and was outscored 371-21 for those 15 games (which includes the 86-0 game). OSU was shut out 11 times and was outscored in those games by 294-0.

Something weird happened from 1934 to 1937. In those 4 years, OSU won 4 straight games - all shut-outs, and outscored UM by 114-0. after that, UM went on a 10-2-2 run against OSU. I'm assuming it had to do with the Great Depression and the hit on the automotive industry that may have brought financial problems to UM. Not sure, but it was an aberration.

Since the greatest coach Michigan ever had (John Cooper) left OSU after the 2000 season, UM is 2-17 against OSU. Cooper went 2-10-1 against Michigan.

I dumped all this history into a spreadsheet awhile ago to take a look at this rivalry to resolve an argument about the UM win record against OSU. Another interesting fact - Total points scored in the rivalry = OSU 1,771 and UM 1,674. They also did not play between 1912 and 1918.

Surprised I found this spreadsheet. It settled the argument as to how Michigan has done since the teams actually became competitive rivals.

I believe Toledo is 1-0 against Michigan, and 0-3 against OSU...

Interestingly, Ohio State records do not include games from 1897 to 1903 or from 1905 to 1918 in their "unofficial stats". That gives OSU a 52-47-4 record against Michigan.

Bottom line, the refs (who were formally reprimanded later) were not going to let a MAC team come into the shoe and take down their big ten darlings... In all fairness Toledo’s record should be 1-2 against the Buckeyes...
