I’m a weather nerd and a retired NWS meteorologist. The football stadium’s proximity to the Ohio River is likely a difference maker regarding the local weather. The stadium is affected by the microclimate of the Ohio River, which generally means cooler and more humid during the day. The temperature Saturday was around 40, with the wind out of the west or southwest. The wind was blowing parallel to the Ohio River and picking up moisture. Furthermore, it was a cross wind at the stadium, which likely caused some swirling winds in the stadium. It was 10-15 degrees warmer in Birmingham Saturday afternoon.

Hello fellow meteorologist/blazer fan!!!

Hello back at you, Rob. Technically I’m just an old man now, who enjoys babysitting his grandchildren. Hope all is well with you.
