BTW I thing most people here don't really understand the way BYU operates, They are part of the LDS church, they get support wherever the are in the US.

Noticed that most people here hate Liberty, my question is why, Liberty is supported by an Evangelical Church and BYU is supported by the LDS Church, they can both survive as independents as a result, conference membership is only important to access playoffs and prestigious Bowl games.

Pretty sure their athletic departments have all the money tyhey need to operate.

Having said that neither will turn down $30+ million TV Contract and neither will run through shark infested waters for a $7 million dollar TV deal.

They’re politically toxic and they make awful decisions constantly. They’re president just had to take a leave of absence for pic/video that went viral. Being Evangelical isn’t special. BYU/Mormons are a tight knit group and die hards. There are at least 3 BYU campuses in 3 different states. ND/ Catholics were also a tight knit group. For generations, ND sold itself as a representative for those elite and blue collar Catholics and it worked. Both Mormons and Catholics are historically repressed religious minorities. This is something that helped unite the respective communities and build support amongst their own. Times have changed but the bond is the same.

The short answer is, being evangelical isn’t special and most evangelicals already have their teams based on their geography (where they live).

Got it, absolutely agree on what was for ND (Not what it ones was but still strong)... BYU (LDS) is one the most tight knit communities I've ever experienced, worked for a company based in Orem, Utah until 1994... Recently noticed that they have reemerged in Pleasant Grove, Utah.
