It is a combined fee that covers various student activities and programs including athletics. The athletics portion is $3.3 million. Student activities, student government costs, club/organization support and certain services for students take the remaining portion. Student funding of athletics has not been a priority at NMSU for a long time.

To have support for athletics equivalent to Tarleton's new fee, the ASNMU fee would have to be increased by a substantial amount. I do not have current figures, but if the distribution is comparable to what it was when I was familiar with it it would need to be in the neighborhood of 75%.
