But as to the contracts with companies like ESPN most of these games have event insurance. I don't think ESPN goes under after a 9 month hiatus. But I think some marginal football programs might if they aren't compensated. The Tourney cancellation probably has more than a few reconsidering the sports they offer.

The media companies will survive, but what about college programs that won’t get media rights payments? The networks won’t pay for games that don’t happen. They might even ask for money back if they’ve given any league or conference an advance. The Athletic has an article reporting that the Premier League teams will have to return 762 million pounds to broadcasters if they don’t complete the current season.

I smell another push for yet another government bailout. What would the emperor do without circuses?

If you are saying no bailouts, fine. I have no problem with this. I remember the "too big to fail" buyout and do not the want government to have any part of it. The real economic shut down should have happened already.
