I really don't think it's political. Over the weekend, I read, "The people who are most concerned are the people who know the most" -- the infectious disease experts.
You know, we may never know if all this was necessary. If there is no major outbreak, is it because all the precautions worked? Or because there never was a problem to start with.
Oh...
And if anyone still cares about the game itself, there's what I think is a pretty good preview on the blog at http://wbbFlashes.com.
I agree with this.
I have never been a fan of the saying "It is what it is" but I think in this case that is probably the best explanation for the situation. For what it is worth, we made the decision yesterday right before the national news came on that we would simply not be attending. I don't fault anyone who disagrees. I don't fault anyone who believes it is overhyped and I don't fault anyone who believes the opposite.
The only people I truly feel bad for are the players and coaches. I am sure that somewhere in the OHSAA bracket, for instance, there is a school who is slated to play in the regionals for the first time. The atmosphere alone makes those games special. Sure, college kids get scholarships but for the seniors on whichever teams make it through to saturday, its going to be strange.
