The select-an-opponent thing is goofy, but it doesn’t bother me because it’s not going to happen.

I think baseball needs more playoff teams.

As it stands:
MLB: 30 teams, 10 playoff spots (33.3%)
NFL: 32 teams, 12 playoffs spots (37.5%)
NHL: 32 teams, 16 playoffs (50%) - including upcoming Seattle
NBA: 30 teams, 16 playoff spots (53.3%)
MLS: 26 teams, 14 playoffs spots (53.8%) - including upcoming Miami and Nashville

Not that Major League Soccer, or any other league sets the bar for baseball, but with 30 teams playing 162 regular season games each, adding an additional playoff spot for each league would bring their playoff percentage up to 46.7% which seems more reasonable.

I am not a fan of 50% or greater of teams making the playoffs. Makes it harder to make the playoffs than miss.
