Yes this is true but our pace of play on offense is purposefully done to help our defense so really you have to take the PPG and the KenPom and find a middle ground with the both of them

Defensive ratings like the one on KenPom are estimating how many points we give up per 100 possessions. This way, you can compare offense and defense among all the teams despite style of play, which is to say we're below average for both.

Which is definitely more accurate than looking at total stats, because we are definitely below average on both offense and defense.

If anything, defensive minded teams are usually rewarded in the advanced metrics because they have fewer possessions.

Well, that's why the offensive and defensive ratings normalize the numbers at 100 possessions adjusted for pace, so there shouldn't really be any bias in terms of style of play.
