Not for nothing was he called the Great Communicator. His brand of humor specialized in the wisecrack or gentle one-liner, much like Bob Hope.

Many people from Reagan’s time made the observation that Goldwater was a politically moderate man whose rhetoric seemed very conservative, whereas Reagan was a very conservative man whose rhetoric seemed moderate. Quite so, on both counts.

I’m quoting from memory here, but I’m sure the original words were close to this:

Ronald Reagan Wrote:It isn’t all the things Democrats don’t know that make them so dangerous. It’s all the things they do know, which just aren’t true.
