Lomax looks a little better, but they will both be served by developing some mid ranch game. Forget driving a la Ja Morant cause you ain’t jumping over people. Forget shooting 3s. Just develop a nice mid range game
Speaking of a nice mid-range game, we need to show these kids some videos of Phillip "Doom" Haynes from the early 80's. Now he had a great mid-range game. Nobody could, then or now, bank shots off the glass from 10 to 15 feet like he did.
I thought of this when IM missed a 12ft-er that he tried to swish. Nobody uses the glass anymore. You see it more on bad 3s these days (bbal in general, not just Memphis) than you do on 10-15ft-ers.
The bank shot retired with Tim Duncan.
As for the team I can't get down on them yet when looking the current factors. The only negative for me right now is TOs. The team, including Lomax, force too many bad passes.
Haha good point.
And as far as turnovers: Penny discusses teaching court vision and passing lanes so it's obvious they work on this. I wonder if the turnovers aren't growing pains and/or part of the process (learning to play faster.) Either way, I picture this improving as we go.
