It was the fear of missing out. You know, FOMO. Everyone that left the SBC knew they were going nowhere as long as they were stuck in that conference. With the move to CUSA, they at least had hope that things could improve. That's proving to not be the case though, as the P5 conferences have pretty much put all G5 conferences "in our place".

Any dreams of raising one's G5 program to the level of a P5 program are all history now. No G5 program will ever rise to the heights that Boise once did. Never. Not even Boise will be able to do it again.

It makes no difference what G5 conference one plays in anymore. We've all been relegated to obscurity.

In many cases, it was because of the schools/programs that were in CUSA at the time they accepted an invitation.
