Saw a quote from Bowlby the other day who served on the working group. He said that any name and likeness rules will be designed to eliminate anything that approaches "pay for play". Todays announcement also made it clear that protecting the existing recruiting environment would be a priority in crafting each divisions rules regarding N&L.

Rules; Nike, Adidas, Bill Self, Calipari, Mike K., UNC, Miami (FL)...they laugh at rules. Rules are always broken. This I am afraid will make the loopholes wider.

Like I said in my edited comments---it will end up painting huge swaths of compensation "grey"---which will be an open invitation for everyone to get involved in abusing these grey areas and creating a pay-for-play recruiting market. If you strictly follow the intent of the rules you'll be done for.

Oh yea, there will be a lot of compensation gray areas. Not only that, but those other sports, and the women's sports that you know darn well will start filing discrimination, and un equal opportunities that football and basketball will get. And the topic of said athlete vs the University. Will Universities now be limited on social media posts, propaganda etc... without compensating the athlete. The four and five star athletes can now claim they bring extra marketing opportunities to said college.

Also, it will be rare, but can happen. You have that Zion Williamson type player that can now earn money for their likeness in High School. It won't make them ineligible in college.
