RE: Bowers
I think it's a little early for a coach or team psychoanalysis.

New head coach, new coaching staff, new more pass-oriented offense, tough road schedule, some key injuries, some key players gone from last year, etc., etc., ... add it up. Or down.

I respected Carey for winning MAC games and a few vs. P5s, but he wasn't the most likeable guy in the neighborhood. He also took his staff with him. I like Hammock's positive social attitude and loyalty, but understand he spent five years in the NFL and had to create a staff from scattered contacts. The staff also has to become a team.

R.e. Bowers ... I hope Hammock is not locked in the way Carey was with Childers. Two years ago, Bowers threw for 3,000+ yards, 18 tds and 11 ints, which tells me he threw a lot to somebody, and not always wearing the same uniform. Fancy flips are not running ability. Every good qb I have seen can also run; maybe not first, but it adds a threat that qbs in the shotgun need to have. Maybe Bowers needs a break to work that out. If Childers started the next game, or was given a half, it might bring some atittudes in for a landing, and not just Bowers. Doesn't Hammock preach that everyone has to compete for their spot? And when did the competition end for the season?

Anyway, some on the board need to take a load off, IMO. Nobody is trying to destroy Huskie football.
