Yeah, they've truly only moved about 3 pots one way or the other in the last half decade since their huge bumps in the mid to late 00's. There are anywhere between 10-20 schools tied at any number in the 110-140 range, so moving down one spot actually looks much worse. I think being in the 120-140 range is probably our manageable ceiling at the moment, but with the capital improvements for the Colleges of Business and Law coming down the pipes, we could conceivably get up in the 110s consistently. I just don't see us operating in a way to be able to get to a Top 100 institution year-in, year-out simply because we do still hold firm in our mission to education EVERYONE, and not just kids with a 30+ ACT.

When Zimpher was President, the official goal was to be in the top 100 and have an average ACT score of 27.

Two years ago, the average ACT score was 25, last year around 25.6, and this year’s class, 26.1. While UC is behind schedule there has been steady improvement. Other schools, like Temple and USF, have moved more quickly.

The pool of national universities in the rankings and the standards have not remained static. So #139 doesn’t mean what it did years ago simply because there are more schools.

UC does not accept everyone. 25% are rejected. Not the highest number, but it is more selective than it was 15 years ago when it was in the upper 80’s and many fewer applied.

I see no reason why UC can’t be ranked like Miami OH, Binghamton, or Buffalo.
