Far more important than having a "history of upsets" is who you are playing. E.g., I agree that South Dakota State is a good FCS team and probably could beat a couple dozen FBS teams. Maybe 30 - 40 of them.

But they aren't beating Oklahoma.

So you have to look at who is being played, because "FBS" means everything from Clemson to Eastern Michigan, and that's a whopping difference.

The big dogs did fell to FCS teams, so it can happen.

Many things can happen, but you tell us to 'watch' certain games for upsets, you must mean that they have a reasonable chance of happening.

Oklahoma is #4. No team ranked that high has ever lost to an FCS team.

So that would probably qualify as a game that we don't need to watch for an upset, eh?

FCS App State beat #5 ranked Michigan in 2007. Not much difference between 4 and 5.


No, I do not believe they'll beat OU, but just pointing out that it's early in the season and rankings aren't solidified yet (like for Michigan that year).

App State was also an elite program at that and Michigan had Rich Rod wrecking their program from within, with players showing up high to the game. USD is not an elite FCS program, not even top half in their conference, and Oklahoma's very well-coached and coming off a beatdown of a strong G5 opponent. The game's gonna be a boat race.
