CTT got the commit, but I think technically CLF signed him. Regardless it's a fair point that people often overlook about a lot of our talent this year and last.
With that being the case, if Fickell came here a bit earlier maybe we would have kept Jeremy Larkin. A recruit that Tubs "had" but didn't bother to contact for the entire academic year up to his decommitment.
Agree, recruiting is more than just securing a commitment. Fickell was able to flip a commit or two from other schools on signing day as well.
Maybe Tubs (with more effort) or Fickell (if he was here) could have kept him, but I thought the word at the time was that Larkin was always hoping for that Northwestern offer for whatever reason. And it probably wasn't a factor, but it's worth noting that Tubs got a commit from Doaks the week after Larkin. Unfortunately, Larkin's football career is over as you probably know, but all in all I think it's worked out pretty well for UC.
Our recent success has had a lot of help from CTT players. It sure looks like CLF is a much better motivator.
It is also interesting that it Fick a year to fix what was wrong internally. How of it is the players buying into Fick’s staff and system?
