RE: Cop on paid leave because of KKK application.
One of my uncles used to work for the phone company as an installer back in the 1970's. One day while putting in a commercial drop he found what looked like a coin with a hole drilled in it. At lunch he cleaned it up and found it to be some kind of stamped metal klan membership device. He stuck it in his pocket with his change with the intent to throw it away later and pretty much forgot about it. That night when he got home he did like he always did, took the change out of his pocket and put it in the ash tray.

A few weeks later he stopped off at a store to get a drink and paid for it with change he had grabbed out of the ash tray that morning. Yep...he'd grabbed the klan medal. The clerk was counting the change and said "Hey, you might want to keep this since I can't use it" and handed it back to him. My uncle said he spit and stammered trying to explain why he had it. He said "I have never went back in that store since." LOL
