That's the correct answer, but who is "Daddy ESPN" going to say is worth the money to add? Some people keep acting like Aresco and AAC sources keep saying they are going to add no one whether ESPN likes it or not. Only thing they've said really is that they are only going to add a member if they feel it adds value to the league, and my guess is ESPN feels the exact same way about that.
This. The media rights deal for C-USA is a few hundred grand per school. ESPN isn't going to agree to pay $7M/year for anyone currently in C-USA.
I certainly don't think they will, but hey maybe I'm flat out wrong. Maybe ESPN wants to pay annually more for 1 school in C-USA than their total TV deal pays the entire league per year. Makes perfect sense to me.
Its the same concept as why the Big 12 did not add two schools a couple years ago. It was cheaper for the networks to negotiate their pro-rata clause in their contract as opposed to paying 2-4 more available schools; and it was more lucrative for the existing 10 members to keep the money for themselves.
