This. We don't add a new market for them. Moreover, the impediment is not just Ohio State- schools like Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Minnesota, Northwestern and Michigan State do not want us in the conference as those are the schools that would suffer the most by adding us (what little recruiting advantage they have over us would be gone).

As for the AAU designation, I don't see that happening either. The AAU is an invite-only organization. The AAU made a comment a couple years ago that they were looking to change their metrics because there were schools that met the metrics that they didn't want (UC, UAB, USF, etc.), while schools that focused mostly on liberal arts wasn't meeting them.

Frankly, from what I have seen I think the university has given up on its AAU aspirations as well. Seems like there is more of a move to be less selective in admissions and continue to swell enrollment.
