Most schools will have a hard time coming up with the $$'s it would take to get Beard out of Lubbock. Not sure if this correct but I read somewhere that if UT wants Beard, they would have to pony up $15+ million to buyout their current coach and pay for Beard. Not many schools have the financial means to spend that kind of upfront cash on a basketball coach.
Football--- absolutely. Basketball-??? Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, Kentucky.

Oh well, it gives people linked below something to talk about because they can't talk about their own schools.

Louisville, OSU, Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin could all easily afford Beard

I think Arizona would be a great landing spot. They're having issues with Miller and they will be able to afford Beard.

I understand why a Gonzaga fan would think that after the defensive performance Tech and Beard put on the Zags in the Elite 8. Helluva game shutting down the Zags that night.

So let's deal in reality. Arizona pays Sean Miller a little over $4 million a year. His buyout will either be $5 million or $10 million based on contract terms.

Arizona would have to come up with $5-10 million plus the $3 million buyout from Tech plus the new salary of $4.5 plus million a year. Based on how Arizona handles the Sean Miller contract situation, the Cats would have to find $12.5 million just to get Beard to listen.

Dave Heeke: “Sean, thanks for coming in. We’re gonna let you go.”
Miller: “Why are you firing me?”
Heeke: “No reason at all. Nothing happened. Just a different direction.”
Miller: "No, you’re firing me for cheating.”
Heeke: “Nope! Totally okay with that! No cause!"

JUST IN: Sean Miller’s contract, as written, somehow pays him more for getting fired with cause than without cause. So if Miller is fired with cause, Arizona will owe him approximately $5 million more ($10.3 million versus $5.15 million) than if they fired for no reason.

It's easy to spout off misinformation hoping people will listen but then facts come out and it smacks them right in the face.

I do believe Mark Few would be an adequate replacement for Arizona if Miller gets canned. I'm surprised Few hasn't left for a more lucrative job.

I get you’re a Tech homer and I’m glad Tech athletics are on their way up. I always have them being on the right side of realignment after a XII implosion. I’m born-raised-always lived in Texas. I have many family and friends that went to Tech. I haven’t once said something bad about Tech. I have said it’s not a destination school for a coach which - if you want to deal with reality - is the truth. The Tech / Zags game was a fun game to watch and y’all were the better team that game. Most people on here aren’t anti-Texas Tech or, really, anti-any school. I don’t get why the need to be defensive or insulting. Like many people on here, I’m fairly mild-mannered. I am entitled to my opinion and it won’t always be in line with everyone else’s, but we can at least agree to disagree and let it go.

I'll root for Tech until I die and Beard views Tech as his destination school. He turned down UT, UCLA, and Arkansas to remain at Tech.

I pointed out your poorly worded post and presented facts. You said a contract means little and Arizona could afford Beard. Can Arizona afford a larger salary for Beard plus the buyouts?

IIRC, you support a fan who hates the Big 12? I love presenting facts instead of opinions.
