I go to a lot of USMNT games...it would be a crying shame if they arent able to accommodate some US games, bc they sure play in some crappy venues from time to time
USMNT requires grass fields so if we go with turf instead you wont see any USMNT soccer at the new stadium. And word on the street from the head grounds keeper at Regions is they are leaning towards Turf
They have played on turf, but it’s rare. Agreed that turf makes it unlikely to host the USMNT
(June 9 they are playing at Nippert Stadium, which I believe is turf. Whether they’ll lay grass over the turf—as they have sometimes done in the past, I do not know)
That is surprising they would play on turf after the big stink they have made about it. They wont go to Seattle's stadium, Portland, or Atlanta (although those are some of the biggest drawing crowds in our country) because of the field turf.
they will be laying a temporary grass surface at Nippert...
obviously, a grass surface would greatly increase the chances that the USMNT would visit Bham
