No - not a tossup from the standpoint of where FSU or NCSU finishes. A tossup of how the league maximizes their schedule for television working around a number of set ooc games and the two weeks that State will not play in Raleigh due to the NC State fair.
FSU has two ooc games to end the year. State has four to start the year.
That would rough out to something like:
1. at Liberty
2. at MD
3. Clemson (you have them early in case you blow the MD game)
4. Western Michigan
5. Holy Cross
6. Open
7. at NC State (State will have a weather advantage, but you get a week break)
8. Pitt or at Duke
9. at FSU
10. Open (Week off to rest after trip to Tallahassee - not need vs. Western Michigan)
11. WF
12. at Duke or Pitt
13. at Louisville
14. BC
The purpose of this schedule is to get you to week 7 at least 4-1. If you have beaten MD, the Clemson ass whippin' will not matter. The creates the possibility of a 4-1 Syracuse against a 5-0 NC State (assuming State beats West Va and GT), creating a big game with schools not named Clemson, FSU, or Miami. The loser is toast the rest of the way. FSU does not get in line for their ass whippin' until week 11, keeping them in the game if they beat you in week 9.
Yeah, I remember that Whoopin that Clemson gave Cuse the last time they visited the Dome. I'm hoping they whoop us like that again.
Did I reference your 2017 game with them? No I did not. One can hope against Clemson, but the usual course for decent teams is to be beaten twice by Clemson - the week you play them and the week after.
A week off before is useless, it's the bye week after Clemson that matters until they come back down closer to Earth.
I also think the odds of you knocking out a third Clemson QB in three years is low.
When SU played clemson at Clemson, Cuse was up double digits with Clemson's starting qb in the game. Clemsons backup qb actually performed better than the starter. But my point was that the Dome is a tough place to play. Many more talented teams than SU have left the Dome with an unexpected loss. Most of them cant use the tired excuse about losing a player. Its all part of the game. SU gave Clemson its toughest game of the season this year and lost the game the last 45 seconds. I expect more of the same in the Dome. Babers matches up very well with Dabo as far as game planning, even though he has less talented teams.
