There is one more reason it means something. If you keep winning the MAC and then losing to everyone you play from the Sun Belt or CUSA, it indicates that the MAC was weak and takes some of the shine off of the MAC title.

+10000 If you google Boca Raton bowl all the headlines are basically UAB blows out or dominates NIU. Every news station I saw last night had it as a story and all mentioned it was NIUs 6th straight bowl loss.

At what point do people just say they can't beat anyone but bad teams or teams in the MAC, which has a lot of bad teams, especially when playing other G5 conferences in the bowl games. It starts a perception from any outsider that NIU is just an average team. Which is what they have been for a few seasons if not below average.

Some on here think we are a top G5 team. I used to think that way too, but I thought about that more last night and don't think we are even in the top 10 anymore.

As someone else said, I truly question accepting bowl bids especially if they are going to piss away money the school doesn't have.
