Eventually the CFP will expand to eight teams. The best format at this point to satisfy the fan base is a (5 P5 + 1 G5 + 2 Wildcards). The pressure will start to surmount due to 2 or 3 P5 champs being left out of the playoff every year. I will forecast the change starting in 2025.

That will last for about 12 years and then it will be expanded to 16 teams. The format will then be all conference champs six wild cards. To protect Notre Dame, it will probably be adjusted to 10 Conference Champs + highest rated Independent + 5 Wildcards. This should occur by 2038.

Then everybody is happy.....for a while.
