I disagree, well I mean I agree there would have been some decline as has been experienced in all college and pro sports, but nothing like the decimation we are witnessing right now without the ESPN deal. The ESPN deal provides ZERO incentive to purchase season tickets, zero.

Bingo. That is why many of us long time season ticket holders have given up our tickets. Homecoming is the last attended game of the season for me.
And anyone pointing out an advantage to the deal I'll point them to your post. There is no advantage that can outweigh the season being over for half the fans halfway through the season
Question for disgruntled season ticket holders ready to cancel. If NIU would offer season tickets less the Maction games would you keep your plans? Would those not ready to cancel but annoyed switch plans? Not talking about mini-game plans they offer now. Those have a Maction game in them often.
NIU would never do this because they’d view it as lost revenue. Like the NFL forcing season ticket holders to buy preseason games. But NIU demand is very different. The AD would have to determine 2 less games sold per non-Maction plans vs revenue lost from cancelled full plans.
The problem is this. Those who have cancelled their season tickets and still attend games with single game purchases give the AD less reason to worry about lost season ticket sales. They may make more money if you buy 4 single game tickets as opposed to the 6 in a season plan.
Their is more value to season ticket holders than just dollars and cents. They’re crucial to the fan base. I’m just wondering if fans ould be interested in this. And if enough did it would it be a wake up call to the entire Mac about how much the fan base disapproves of weeknight games. It would never happen. Espn wouldn’t allow it. But it’s a interesting proposition.
