Yeah, Tre and Nsoseme are offensive rebounding machines. Last year per 40 minutes they averaged more offensive rebounds then Gary Clark. I think it will continue this year.
I didn't expect to see so much of Nsoseme either. But for the opposite reason as I loved Nsoseme last year. I thought Brooks would take a big step in development over the summer. Instead, Brooks couldn't stay in the first exhibition game and fouled out in 7 minutes in this one. Barring a miracle in Brooks development it looks like he's going to be a dissapointment who is an average backup at best. Luckily, Nsoseme looks like a potential future NBA starter, so Brooks lack of development doesn't hurt too much.
I see Nsoseme as a 15 minute guy this season; however, I expect him to impact the game in a positive way time he is out there. Brooks seems like a 5 to 10 minute sub as this point.
This season is all about Cuberland becoming a first team level player and two other guys around him playing at a high level.
Agreed on Brooks, he has been a disaster so far, major dissapointment for a junior. I'm hoping for more like 20-25 minutes from Nsoseme though. Either that or for Diarra to be a major contributor. If Nsoseme can only give 15 minutes and Brooks 5-10, Tre Scott isn't going to get much time to rest. Between starting at the 4 and playing 10-15 minutes as an undersized 5, Scott will start to wear down. Someone besides Scott needs to help carry the load. The only 2 likely to do that are Nsoseme and Diarra and Diarra is still a mystery at this point. Hardnett possibly could provide some minutes as well.
Hardnett seems like a likely redshirt after seeing such little PT over the past few games.
Definitely possible, it's what a lot of people seem to think. I think he's got a shot though. He's big enough to play the 4 and the competition for the backup 4 role isn't exactly settled. If Scott is playing 10-15 minutes at the 5, that leaves about 20 minutes at 4 that somebody besides Scott has to fill. Fredericks can take some of that, but if he's the starting 3, he will need some rest as well.
That would leave 10-15 minutes at the 4 and only Hardnett/Diarra have the size to fill it. Diarra has a year of experience over Hardnett and the size to play the 5, so he has to be the favorite. But, we haven't seen Diarra play in almost a year. Until he gets on the court and proves he can play, I'm not writing Hardnett off as a redshirt. Even if Diarra is the primary backup, Hardnett could probably get 5 minutes per game as a sub (at the 3/4 if Cronin has us pressing all game), he might choose that over redshirting.
