Probably won't be able to keep recruiting all-white teams either. Just sayin'.

In the "everybody should have at least one chance to pull their foot out of their mouth" category,.... I can't even imagine why you couldn't resist the urge to "just say" but care to elaborate? You going for some implication, a point there?

The meaning of Detroit's comment seems pretty clear - that, at the DI level, it's hard to be successful if you recruit only white players. I haven't followed Ashland so didn't know that their teams have been all-white. Bowling Green over the years also has recruited primarily white players and had a lot of success prior to the Roos years. On the men's side, Bob Nichols did the same thing and took some heat for it. I think BGSU in general is a pretty white place that attracts a lot of small-town kids.

While its gallant (or something) of you to try and help him pull his foot out of his mouth, what you wrote is a load of horsecrap.

This coach won a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. You want to presume she didn't recruit the best student-athletes and that her only goal was to get the best student-athletes she could get?

1) Have you compiled a list of non-"white" players that desperately wanted to come to Ashland to play ball but this coach did not give them time of day?
2) Where were these accusations when she was a coach at your alma mater?
3) Are you two really that desperate to throw aspersions on a rival that you would make such sideways cowardly accusations?

Man I tell you if I were to wish our coach would sign up to this site, now would be the time if only to tell you to slap yourselves. The world is desperately trying to move on from your nonsense. Get out the way or get run over.

The smart thing here would have been to just hold in your "just sayin" even if it would have bust your colon to do so.

I'm confused. I was not intending to make any accusations (much less sideways, cowardly ones) toward BG's new coach, and when I look back at my post I still don't see any such accusations. I did not say or imply that she refused to give the time of day to black players who wanted to play at Ashland. I did two things in my post: 1) I said what I thought was the clear meaning of Detroit's post, and 2) I expressed my opinion that his conclusion was not necessarily correct. That is, I think Detroit was suggesting that you can't win with all white players in D1. I gave examples of successful D1 programs with mostly white players - BG women under Miller and UT men under Nichols. I am not saying that proves Miller and Nichols were racist. That would be one explanation, but certainly not the only one.

If it's accurate that Ashland was all white under Kralick, that does not prove she is racist or that she didn't want black players. It does show that, for whatever reason, she was not successful in recruiting black players to her program. Maybe that will continue to be the case at BG, and maybe not. If it does continue to be the case, maybe that will affect her success at BG, and maybe not. (Clearly it didn't hurt her at Ashland.)

I really think you read some things into my post that weren't there. If you're suggesting that we're in a post-racial world where it doesn't make sense to even talk about race, I disagree. I would be fine with such a world, but it seems delusional to suggest that we're there.

So, I'm not trying to attack Kralick and am not trying to give offense. If I have given offense, I will be happy to hear about it and to try to learn from others' comments.
