Marty Connors was Gov. Bob Riley's first Chief of Staff when Riley was first elected. He got my attention when he used that post as an opportunity to announce that the Alabama Republican Party was "declaring war on the AEA". The teachers in Alabama really don't need such enemies in such powerful positions. When Gov. Bentley declared that "Alabama public education sucks", most did not realize he was bragging at how well his party had succeeded in that declared war.
