Exclamation 2018 (Feb. 2018) FB Signing Thread
Starting a new thread to cover the 2nd signing period. The first signing period is over and that cake is baked.

I believe there will be three weekends of official visits, Jan 13, 20, and 27 with the 2nd signing period beginning Feb 7.

As indicated by CC, believe EMU could sign up to 4 additional recruits. This does not include two players in school now who presumably will be given scholarships after the academic year is over.

Couple of questions come to mind:

1). What positions are the staff attempting to fill? Remember, priority for Dec 20 - 22 is for recruits who will start school next week (that was 1/2 of this class). A May or June JUCO grad can sign in Feb. Sometimes the school might want to see first semester grades. Did the player pass his fall math class needed to graduate from his community college? Think we saw that in MBB with LWH who did not complete his JUCO degree during that summer and had to complete it during fall semester.

2). Are recruits who did not sign last week (e.g., Whitmer, Gaddie, etc.) completely off the board or are they still possible. Gaddie decommitted. Whitmer has been silent. Presumably their Twitter accounts should show some clues in the weeks ahead.

3). Always a chance the staff wanted to hold off on a recruit until his first semester grades are in. Starting last year (2016) the NCAA academic requirements were raised. Signing a recruit who doesn't qualify essentially is a wasted scholarship (can, however, be given out during summer to another player or at mid-year).

4). Are we holding a scholarship or two for recruits looking for a P5 offer (as a Plan B recruit) who might 'fall' to us? Might we see a few of these types visit late. This becomes the game of musical chairs where a recruit is hoping for a 'chair' with a P5 school and also a G5 school, if needed. This should go better than in the past. A B1G school can say to a recruit, for example: We have say 22 scholarships and gave out 19. We may give one more at your position. You are one of a couple recruits we are considering for that scholarship.
