I have confidence in Abrams to get things back on track. I expect that the Episode IX story will reveal that Kylo was lying to Rey about her junk-yard parents, or at least concealing part of the truth, and that she is connected to the Kenobi or Skywalker line somehow. That will add a surprise element to the Episode IX movie and get it back to the storyline. There will be heavy appearances by legacy characters - Luke as a force ghost, along with Obi-Wan, played by Ewan McGregor. I also expect Lando to join the fun.
