lose to tulsa its a free all ..

if smu beats navy..and you beat tulsa, the winner of your game gets it

Dang, Pesik, you keep forgetting SMU still has to play UCF, as well as Navy and Memphis.

the smu game vs ucf has little consequence in the title race...win or lose wont affect the outcome of the race..

if smu beats ucf and loses to navy...memphis would still get it on tie breakers even if memphis lost

if smu beats ucf and navy....memphis would still get it if they won

if smu losses to ucf as long as they beat navy will still control its destiny..

Please tell me you cannot be that dumb. It is still a CONFERENCE GAME, Pesik. Counts the same as all the West division games.

Good grief... 01-wingedeagle

Do I really have to explain all the other mathematically possible scenarios that could come into play that COULD make the SMU-UCF game play into the final standings?

Btw, Memphis could lose to ECU and still control its destiny, as well, lol. But the ECU game STILL COUNTS.

but we are talking games with meaningful implications

Quote:if there are 2 undefeated teams competing for a championship, with 2 games left, 1 versus each....both their second games not versus each other is meaningless, if we are talking who claims the title on tie-breaker.
im not sure if you are being idealistic with your "all conference games count"

there is only 2 real scenarios in which the smu and ucf games plays in to the divison race and that is if you lose out, lose all 3 of your remaining game (tulsa, ecu, smu), or smu can beat ucf and memphis , but lose to tulane...

beyond those 2 crazy scenerio, the ucf game will have little effect on the memphis/smu title chances....because ucf is a out of division game.. and thus has no effect on the second tie breaker

since im so dumb i should spell it out
if memphis beats tulsa and ecu (likely as you pointed out):

Quote:--if smu wins at ucf and navy but loses to memphis--memphis will get it (better conference record)
--if smu wins at ucf but loses to navy , Memphis will get the division regardless of what happens in the memphis vs smu game (Memphis will hold the 3 way tie breaker, even if they lost) (as it will almost certainly be a 3 way tie, with the winner of houston/navy game)
-- if smu losses to ucf but beats navy..smu or memphis would hold the tie breaker depending on who won
-- if smu losses to ucf and losses to navy., memphis win the division regardless on conference record.

notice any situation where they lose to navy the realistic scenerio is elimination, and and whatever happens with ucf they likely still control their own destiny

i dont get the name calling..when what i am saying i clear as day..."every conference game matter" i get it.. in a sense it matters, as it affects who will host the title game..but strictly talking division, it isnt as big a deal
but since you are a super genius 07-coffee3 what do i know
i tutor college students in advanced statistics but you must be packing multiple Harvard degrees since i am an idiot in your presence

good grief pesik. non divisional games count toward divisional standing. how freaking hard is that to understand. for example If Memphis is 4-1 with 1 loss to Tulane and Tulane is 3-2 with losses to usf and cincy we still win the west. i cannot think of a simpler explanation.
