Question Detroit trades Justin Verlander to Houston
Astros acquired RHP Justin Verlander from the Tigers for RHP Franklin Perez, OF Daz Cameron and C Jake Rogers.

The Astros get their potential playoff stud, but it comes at a very heavy price, as they surrendered three of their top 10 prospects and took on $28 million salaries in 2018 and 2019 (though the Tigers are reportedly covering at least $10 million total). Houston doesn't need Verlander to get to the postseason, so this is all about what he can do in October. He's been an elite starter just once in the last five years (in 2016), though he's still well above average now and forever capable of working deep into games. His arrival will likely bounce Mike Fiers from Houston's rotation.
