The only thing classic Andy Mac ever said was "It's a dammed embarrassment".

Andy Mac used to call UC games back in the Ed badger years. He told a story the other day on WLW that Badger had Danny Manning, Scott Skiles, and Dennis Hobson ready to sign with UC, but then the UC AD at the time Mike McGee, fired Badger and hired Yates, killing the deal.
As part of the Danny Manning deal, his dad was supposed to come to UC as an assistant coach, but Badger got fired and Danny and his dad ended up at Kansas instead. Andy Mac was let go as a UC broadcaster because his voice was "too weak" and he has had a hard on for UC ever since.

ED Badger still wouldn't have won with those stars. The man was an awful bench coach and his successor was even worst.

Don't be so tough on Badger, he was named Metro Conference Coach of the Year twice. Who can forget his High Low, Inside Outside, Expand and Contract Offense. Badger had the misfortune of following the Catlett mess, and the Athletic Department was operating on the shortest of shoe string budgets at that time. Riverfront Coliseum was so cold court side that the guys on the bench would bundle up to try to stay warm. I loved the place because you could almost always sneak down and score a court side seat, the beer was cheap, and you could park on the public landing for free. But how are you gonna' recruit top players when that's your home court? Plus their practice facility was Lawrence gym, which they shared with the intramural sports. Tony Yates was in way over his head, but he had to play at Cincinnati Gardens which was worse. That was a bleak bleak period to be a Bearcat fan, we didn't have a chance. Things got a whole lot brighter when they opened the Shoemaker Center and a young guy named Huggins showed up.
