'Tis better to have qualified and lost, than to not have qualified at all. (with apologies to Lord Tennyson)

After winning The Open Ben has to apologize to no one. However he made a decision not to make golf his full time job. I think we were all expecting a better career after that victory and feel a bit let down.

He did win 4 PGA events. Only 240 golfers all-time have won 5 or more.

He won a major.

He finished in the Top 10 in four majors including the win and a tie for 2nd.

He played on a winning Ryder Cup team.

Given how hard it is to play on the top level (look at Jon Mills who is a great golfer, but had limited success on the PGA tour), Ben has had a wonderful career and has been a great ambassador and supporter of Kent State.

Why anybody would have anything bad or obnoxious to say about Ben is beyond me.
