Banowsky created some (probably most) of his circumstances.

I didn't realize he convinced the AFC and Big 10 to raid the Big East.

This doesn't just go back to the latest realignment phase, you know.

It goes back to when the ACC raided the Big East in 2003. At that point Louisville made it abundantly clear they wanted in the Big East. By doing that any chance C-USA of convincing Pitt etc from joining us vanished.

Funny, because Pitt called C-USA asking for admittance not the other way around. If those three had been presented to the existing members for admittance immediately there would have been no football Big East left. for Louisville to bolt to. It was only after C-USA chose to wait that Louisville began lifting its skirt to the Big East. I doubt they would have championed for inclusion led by Temple, Rutgers and Connecticut.
