W&M Medical School - EVMS merger
To continue this non-sports thread, some tangentially related news:

I know many here have argued that EVMS is mediocre at best with regard to it's reputation, despite it's young age.

Norfolk General Hospital, the main teaching facility of EVMS, is now ranked the #1 hospital in Virginia.

So now we have seen EVMS slowly climb the US News rankings as an institution in two regards, first in the Primary Care rankings (#55 of 153 US medical schools -UVA is #29 and MCV/VCU is #61-). Research rankings are another story, with EVMS unranked, but much of that may be related to the lack of non-medical graduate students (and thus diminished grants, etc) at EVMS compared with the other large university centers.
