On more than 1 occasion, this has turn into huge fights that havek broken site rules concerning personal insults and flaming. This is something we are taking seriously enough to have to make rules for tonight's game thread to keep the smack in the smack folder and honest discussion where it belongs.

The problem with that stance IMO is that WKU and Louisiana is not a friendly rivalry. While a few fans get a long that is the exception. There is genuine hatred of the two fan bases stemming from the Last time the Cajuns were dominate in MBB.

Actually WKU fans are more tolerant and understanding of personal transgressions, see Petrino , than they were when Michael Southall played the Cajuns. It is great when a fan base evolves in such a positive way. Less judgementle.

As it was prior to my time in BG, I think, what is the story with Southall? Do not answer that publicly if it is going to open a can of worms.

I don't think it will open anything any more. Southhall was a big kid, great center when he really wanted to play. He was a very smart kid, but he was fond of the weed, and was known to forget that he had classes to attend.

He had originally signed with somebody like Kentucky, but got arrested for possession while still in HS, and they pulled his offer. The Cajuns jumped on him, and he played for a while. Then he violated his probation by getting caught drinking a beer at a party, and spent some time away from school. The Cajuns took him back, and he straightened his act out and ended up graduating.

That was an outstanding team for the Cajuns, loaded with talent, but a lot of the talent had background issues of one kind or another. The folks at WKU took issue with us beating them in Diddle and dancing on the court after.

There is more, but you get the drift. No love lost between the Cajuns and the Toppers in hoops. It is NOT a friendly rivalry.
