A&M doesn't want him to talk to the media because he is really a jerk and, in their opinion, is not reflective of the values of the university, the athletic department or the football team. In addition, they try to distance themselves from his antics on the football field. They suspend a number of athletes and have a couple more ejected during the game.

One Aggie friend I talked to would be glad to trade out JFF for a couple of more losses for those reasons. His was also incredulous that people were so upset with his behavior this year because he did the exact same things last year and that's what they fell in live with...

The everyday Aggies I know are also cringing. I think they realize Manziel will be long gone after this semester, and they question the damage now happening to the Aggie honor.

If, as I kind of suspect, JSS turns the season into an exercise of what he can get out of his fame rather than being a team player, he may be a liability on the field as well as off of it.

To be fair, I was perfectly happy to promote the idea that there was a significant chance he could've wound up at Rice until someone posted the Manziel Family Values article here. I am very glad he didn't wind up on the Rice campus given his character issues.

Rice dodged a bullet in not getting Johnny's signature on signing day. His act wouldn't be welcome at Rice. While he's obviously a talented playmaker, I don't think he's anything special among the legions of high-productivity spread QBs with wheels of the recent era. Manziel benefits greatly from A&M's excellent O-line and big-target WRs that can also block downfield. Put Chase Clement behind A&M's line, and he would do at least as well as Manziel. If McHargue improved on his passing, he would be very similar to Manziel.

I don't see Manziel having a pro career. He doesn't have the build to handle the physicality of the NFL -- it's not the height but the scrawniness -- and he would lose the protection advantage provided by A&M's superior line. Kellen Moore is barely making the cut in the NFL, and he was far more productive than Manziel at Boise State. He's not an a$$ either...
