I don't have a list of the Doctoral Research universities so I don't know if UB and others made that classification.

They also rank other classification levels lower than Doctoral Research. There are four Doctoral Research universities in MI - UofM, MSU, Wayne State and WMU.

Doctoral Research is a highly coveted designation.

I believe you mean the Carnegie Foundation, not Carnegie Mellon. Anyway, Doctoral Research is their lowest rating for research universities. WMU is rated a Research University-High.
