Must be a typo error here, La Techs baseball stadium was designed and built to seat 1200. They have since added a media booth, a row of seats atop home team dugout, exchanged some bench seats for chairbacks but that didnt change the capacity much one way or another. If they would post a photo facing the seating area from say second base rather than photo taken from inside seating area facing playing field then you could see for yourself, otherwise just wait until you have an opportunity to visit.

I think most universities count standing room capacity for baseball and soccer facilities.

There is no official standing room area inside Techs stadium. They refer to an area "beyond outfield fence" but that is railroad property, live trains go by.
