The "top teams" don't want to have what happened to Maryland happen to them.

Also, I'm not sure on the timeline, but I don't think Maryland was a "top team" at the time the contract was made.

Shawn Merriman was on that team along with several other future NFlers. They were the best looking team i've seen in some time.

Vernon Davis was a freshman.. D'Qwell Jackson, starting LB for Browns. Future duo in special teamers with Nick Novak and Adam Podlesh. Dominique Foxworth and Madieu Williams were in their defensive backfield and they had some other linebackers and lineman that made it into the NFL, but no other noticeable names that pop up.
