Troy football program adds 2006 game with Florida State

TROY, Ala. - The Troy University football program has signed an agreement to play a single game against Florida State University in 2006, Troy Athletics Director Johnny Williams announced on Wednesday.
The Trojans will travel to face the Seminoles, members of the Atlantic Coast Conference, on Sept. 9, 2006, in Tallahassee. The schools are located just 153 miles apart.
"This is a game we have been trying to get for a long time," Williams said. "Geographically, it is an ideal matchup because of Florida State's proximity to Troy. Our relationship with Bobby Bowden helped make this possible, and we look forward to having the opportunity to compete."
The Bowden Quarterback camps have been held on the Troy campus each June since 2000.
The game against Florida State gives the Trojans three contests in 2006, joining Iowa State on Sept. 2 and UAB at an undetermined date. The 2006 Sun Belt Conference schedule has not been released.
