Bloodlines strong for ASU's Johnson

If family bloodlines mean anything, Arkansas State’s Tyrell Johnson has a promising future in college and quite possibly beyond.
Johnson, Arkansas State’s starting free safety, is the son of two athletes who were among the nation’s finest at the peak of their college careers. His mother, Patricia Bell, was an All-American sprinter at the University of Arkansas. His father, Alvin Robertson, was an All-American guard for the Arkansas basketball team.

Bell was an All-American in the 400-meter run for the UA track and field team in 1984, and she ran numerous other events during her career in Fayetteville. Robertson was also an All-American in 1984, played on a gold medal Olympic team and went on to play 10 years in the NBA. He was selected in the first round by the San Antonio Spurs.
Johnson said he knows where the athletic ability he has been blessed with comes from.
