iden draw down
reserve in shambles
and some of the SPR's tank farms had to be taken offline because the tanks were damaged from being overdrawn by Biden.
Complete fan fiction.
For starters, the SPR isn't a "tank farm!" Perhaps stick with things you know, like the definition of Posit or the difference between word find and spell check? Oh...wait...
The underground salt caverns which store the oil have not been damaged due to being "overdrawn." That's not a thing.
The caverns were built between 1975 and 1991 and were designed to have a life of around 25-30 years and "survive" 5 full draw downs. And they've seen dozens of large and small releases over the past 40 years...many before Biden. They have been a maintenance issue for years now, for many presidents.
Lastly The GAO found that most caverns were in "very good condition" after the 2022 drawdown.
Quote:Cavern integrity and availability. The SPR caverns that were built by
DOE were designed to be geomechanically stable for up to five full
drawdowns. Repeated partial drawdowns followed by refill can leach a
single part of a cavern repeatedly, leading to undesirable shapes. After
Congress directed DOE to begin conducting regular non-emergency
mandated sales from the SPR starting in 2017 to help manage the federal
budget, DOE tasked Sandia to provide a yearly update on the number of
drawdowns each cavern had remaining since the caverns were being
used regularly to withdraw crude oil. In May 2025, Sandia reported that
the majority of the SPR’s caverns (47 of 60—about 78 percent) had at
least four remaining available drawdowns as of the end of calendar year
2024, and all but one cavern had at least one remaining available
drawdown.
In its assessment of the impact of the 2022 drawdown, Sandia found that
it impacted the SPR’s caverns in the expected way (e.g., expended
drawdowns and cavern volume increase) and left the majority of the
caverns in very good condition. Further, Sandia experts told us that the
large-scale 2022 drawdown improved the shape of some caverns (e.g.,
by removing some salt bridges) that had only experienced partial
drawdowns before then. However, every drawdown cycle expands cavern
volume and reduces the spacing between caverns within the salt dome,
which ultimately reduces their long-term viability.

POlitico disagrees with you

Maintenance problems affecting the Strategic Petroleum Reserve are in the spotlight after oil releases under former President Joe Biden.
Nice try, but I read your links and think critically. I'm not a trump cultist.
First, it's not Politico, it's Chris Wright. That's trumps mouthpiece.
Quote:Energy Secretary Chris Wright told the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy this week that SPR drawdowns under former President Joe Biden resulted in structural damage to facilities. More than $100 million of repairs are needed to bring the storage facilities back to full capacity, Wright said. And nearly filling it back up could cost billions of dollars.
Wright did not specify what was damaged or what repairs were being made. Neither the White House nor the Department of Energy responded to questions from POLITICO’s E&E News about the damage.
And again, maintenance issues are not new and are due to the fact that we expected the caverns to be beyond their life YEARS ago. The fact that we have been able to keep using them is a blessing.
Quote:...maintenance issues with the SPR began long before the 2022 drawdowns, records show.
Most of the infrastructure at the SPR sites was installed between 1975 and 1991. Work was done between 1993 and 2000 to extend the life of that infrastructure.
In the 2016 report, SPR officials found that 70 percent of the reserve’s equipment and infrastructure was exceeding its serviceable life.
There has been zero evidence shown by the administration that the Biden drawdowns or the speed of them did any damage to them beyond their normal needed maintenance. And their own report in 2025 which I linked above said they were fine afterward.
Stop trying to polish a turd with propaganda.
